HEAD-TO-HEAD: Neuberger Berman vs Allianz
This week’s Head-to-Head examines two China equity vehicles: Neuberger Berman China Equity and Allianz Greater China Dynamic.
Other than a 12-month run between November 2013 and November 2014, Allianz Greater China Dynamic has not really exhibited any remarkable periods of outperformance.
Conversely, Neuberger’s China offering has spent most of its life skirting above both its peers and benchmark, coming into its own during the rise of the Chinese stock market earlier this year.
Husselbee said: “It is hard to identify the pattern of returns for Allianz Greater China Dynamic without deeper analysis of returns. However, the medium term numbers are prompted by some superior performance in 2013 under the tenure of the previous fund manager. On the other hand Neuberger Berman seems to perform well in both up and down markets.”
