Neuberger Berman has appointed Wei Xiaoxue as managing director of its subsidiary, Neuberger Berman Fund Management (China) Limited (FMC).

Based in Shanghai, Wei reports to Patrick Liu, general manager of Neuberger Berman FMC. Her appointment is effective 10 October.

In her new role, Wei will spend the first six months focused on the organisation’s strategic planning. Once this is completed, she will assume the role of deputy general manager and chief investment officer for equities at FMC, where she will spearhead the development of investment strategy, manage the equity research team and oversee asset allocation and risk management across equity portfolios.

“As we broaden and deepen our client franchise in China, it is important that we continue elevating our local capabilities. We are therefore delighted that Michelle is joining us. Her wealth of expertise and proven track record of delivering for clients will be a valuable addition to our already strong team,” said Liu.

Wei joins Neuberger Berman from Everbright PGIM Fund Management, where she was assistant general manager and head of research and portfolio management and led a team of 25 research analysts.

Neuberger Berman also announced other appointments in Asia, including Charles Nguyen, managing director for public equities ESG investing, who will be relocating from New York to Shanghai to lead Neuberger Berman’s ESG efforts across Asia.
