State Street names new APAC head

State Street Corporation has named Ian Martin as the new head of Asia-Pacific, in addition to his current responsibilities as head of global services in the region.

Martin will replace Seck Wai-Kwong, who will be pursuing other opportunities in Singapore after being the firm’s APAC head for eight years, according to a statement from the firm.

Martin will continue to be based in Hong Kong and will report to Andrew Erickson, head of global services worldwide.

Martin has been with the firm for at least 25 years and has held several leadership roles in multiple locations in the region, according to the statement.

Separately, State Street Global Advisors, the firm’s asset management arm, has become the latest firm approved by China to set up an onshore investment wholly foreign-owned enterprise structure.

State Street Corporation has operated in Asia-Pacific for at least 40 years. It has offices in Australia, Japan, mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand and Brunei. The firm provides investment servicing, investment management, research and data analytics to its clients.
