Franklin Templeton names new head of Apac distribution

Tariq Ahmad has been appointed sole head of Apac distribution as former Apac head Matt Harrison moves to lead Europe and UK distribution for the firm.

Franklin Templeton has named a new head of distribution in the Asia Pacific as well as a new head of distribution for India.

Tariq Ahmad (pictured) has been promoted to the sole head of Apac distribution after working as co-head of Apac distribution alongside Matt Harrison, who has been newly appointed as the new head of Europe and UK distribution.

Prior to this role, Ahmad was head of Asia distribution, responsible for Asia (ex-Japan, India and mainland China) retail and institutional distribution, including marketing and product strategy.

Ahmad has over 20 years of industry experience with international exposure working with clients across the UK, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. He is based in Singapore.

As a result of Harrison’s move to Europe, Franklin Templeton has also promoted Dubai-based Sandeep Singh to head of India and central and eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) distribution.

Singh’s new role will cover the Indian market in addition to his previous role overseeing Franklin Templeton’s business in the CEEMEA region. Prior to that, he held several leadership roles within the firm previously in India and Malaysia. He has over 25 years of experience within the asset management industry.

Adam Spector, executive vice president and head of global distribution for Franklin Templeton said: “In crucial markets including UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia-Pacific, we have made significant strides in growing our distribution channels.”

“Harrison, Singh and Ahmad are seasoned and proven leaders and I am thrilled to work closely with them to further expand our distribution footprint at this exciting time.

Spector added: “In addition, I would like to thank Julian for his efforts and dedication as Head of EMEA distribution and look forward to partnering with him in his new role as vice chair EMEA.”
