Dimensional excludes the Middle Kingdom; JP Morgan’s optimistic outlook; Household wealth is rocketing; Schroders is thinking about privates; Ninety One’s pithy AI; German woes and much more.
FE Fundinfo, which bases its assessment on a fund’s three-year history of delivering alpha, minimising relative volatility and producing consistent returns, awards the Franklin product its top ranking of five crowns, and rates the Pictet fund lower with only two crowns.
Morningstar has awarded the Franklin product five stars based on historical returns, and with a neutral analyst rating. The firm gives the NB fund only three stars, but a forward-looking analyst rating of bronze.
However, although Morningstar assigns a higher star rating to the Franklin fund, its analysts are not entirely convinced about its ability to add value.
Oreana’s Savage shares their reservations, especially during a period when growth styles are less popular, and strategies need to be more nuanced.
“The [Franklin] has performed well in the past, but it has been helped by a powerful tailwind,” she said.
“The NB strategy makes sense in the current environment, and the managers are impressive,” said Savage.
