Mark Woodward has joined St James Place Partnership in Shanghai to provide wealth management services to affluent and high net worth expatriates in China.

Woodward will be based in Shanghai. He was previously chief executive officer at China-headquartered Global Wealth Management, where he was responsible for operations across China, Japan, Southeast Asia and Europe, SJP said in a brief statement.

Woodward has 20 years of experience in the financial planning and wealth management sector having previously worked in China, Japan, and the UK.

He will focus on providing wealth management services to affluent and high net worth expatriates in China, according to the statement.

The firm’s Shanghai operation has a total staff of 40, with 25 in an advisory role, according to Joel Carpenter, SJP’s head of marketing for Asia.

In March, SJP WM announced the appointment of Enzio Von Pfeil as a Hong Kong-based partner, providing wealth management services to affluent and high net worth expatriates.

The firm said it has had an increase in assets sourced from Asia to £916m ($1.27bn) in 2017 from £659m in 2016.
