SJP, Citi PB reveal appointments

St James’s Place Wealth Management Asia has appointed Enzio Von Pfeil as a partner, while Citi Private Bank has named Catherine Cheung as its new Asia-Pacific strategist.

Von Pfeil is a new partner in Asia and is not replacing anyone, according to a Singapore-based spokesman for St. James’s Place Asia.

Von Pfeil’s appointment is still subject to regulatory approval, according to a statement from the firm. Based in Hong Kong, he will focus on providing wealth management services to affluent and high net worth expatriates.

Von Pfeil has 30 years of experience in working with institutional and high net worth investors. Before joining SJP, he was previously Odyssey Asset Management Hong Kong’s group economist, according to the statement.

In 2017, the firm saw its AUM sourced from Asia-based clients increase to £916m ($1.27bn) in 2017 from £659m in 2016. Globally, the firm manages £90.7bn in assets.

Citi Private Bank

Separately, Citi Private Bank has appointed Catherine Cheung as Hong Kong-based Asia-Pacific strategist, according to a statement from the bank.

She replaced Shirley Wong, who left the private bank earlier this year, according to a Singapore-based spokeswoman at Citi.

Wong will be responsible for promoting the private bank’s Asia-Pacific investment strategy across different asset classes to the bank’s ultra high net worth clients and internal stakeholders, working in tandem with the global strategy team, according to the statement. She will report to Ken Peng, the private bank’s Asia-Pacific chief investment strategist.

Before joining Citi Private Bank, Cheung was the head of portfolio advisory at Citi’s global consumer bank in Hong Kong. Before that, Cheung was the head of investment strategy, also with the consumer bank.

Cheung started her career as a financial news anchor and reporter at I-Cable Communications in 1997. She left the media company in 2005 to join HSBC, according to her Linkedin profile. She joined Citibank in 2006.

Globally, Citi Private Bank manages $460bn in assets, according to the statement.
