HSBC GPB hires former UBS banker for South Asia role

Gautam Anand is appointed global coordinator for global India, MENA and Europe.

Gautam Anand will take up the position at HSBC Global Private Banking South Asia in Singapore on 1 December 2023, according to an internal memo seen by FSA.

Anand (pictured) has 25 years’ experience of private banking, wealth management and investment banking. He joins from UBS where he was managing director and market team head, responsible for driving the growth of South Asian and Global India client business across Asia.

Prior to UBS, Anand spent almost a decade with Credit Suisse, where he led and managed one of the largest India subcontinent team.

“Our strategy is to grow Singapore as an international wealth hub as part of our ambition to be Asia’s leading wealth manager. [Anand’s] appointment will further support our private banking business and our ability to serve clients across markets,” said Tommy Leung, head of global private banking, in the memo.
