The Fidelity fund is managed by FE alpha rated Anthony Srom. He is based in Singapore and has over 21 years’ experience investing in Asia. He joined Fidelity in 2006 as an investment analyst and took on the Fidelity Funds Asia Pacific Opportunities Fund in June 2014.
“Srom adopts a high conviction approach to investing in Asian equities and his track record of minimising volatility is impressive,” said McDermott.
William Lam and Ian Hargreaves took on the running of the Invesco fund last year when the incumbent manager, Stuart Parks, retired. At the same time, both men became co-heads of Invesco’s Asian and emerging market equity teams.
“Lam and Hargreaves are very experienced and have worked together since 2006,” said McDermott.
Moreover, Lam has managed a similar fund for UK investors for several years which is managed in similar way to the approach of Parks, so continuity should be maintained, he added.
