HEAD-TO-HEAD: Investec vs MFS
FSA compares the Investec European Equity Fund with the MFS Meridian European Research Fund
Ken Hsia, lead portfolio manager of the Investec European Equity Fund, and manager of the 4-Factor Europe equity strategy team, has been with the firm since 2004. His team of 15 analysts has an average of 16 years of investment experience. Hinton described Hsia as “an excellent portfolio manager” with broad experience. He has been managing the fund since 2012.
The MFS fund has no lead manager. Christopher Jenkins, director of equity – Europe, oversees the analyst team in London, while Gabrielle Gourgey is the institutional equity portfolio manager for the fund.
“MFS has not adopted a star manager culture,” Hinton said. “Analysts are viewed at the same level as portfolio managers. It’s a team-based approach.”
