GAM Investments has hired Fanwei Zeng as the investment analyst on its Asian equities team, confirming an earlier report by Portfolio Adviser in November.
Based in Hong Kong, Zeng will work alongside Jian Shi Cortesi, the leader of the China and Asia equities team.
The team will collaborate closely with fellow investment director Swetha Ramachandran and senior analyst Wendy Chen as part of a wider collaboration within the global equities team, as reported.
Before joining the investment manager, Zeng was a member of the investment committee at investment and asset manager Aplus Partners in Hong Kong.
She was involved in cross-border investment and asset management with focuses on growth stage opportunities.
She had also worked as an investment banking analyst at Chinese real estate company, Kaisa Group, before that.
GAM Investments has recently been revamping its Asia and China equities team.
In November, Portfolio Adviser reported that Cortesi was taking over the management duties of the investment manager’s China and Asian funds, originally managed by Rob Mumford.
Cortesi is also in charge of GAM’s Asia Focus and China Evolution equity strategies.
