Fidelity pulls from UK for senior Asia appointment

The firm has brought Ben Waterhouse from Fidelity in the UK to head the intermediary business for Southeast Asia and the Middle East and serve as country head of Singapore.

His role is effective in January 2017 and he will report to Daisy Ho, managing director in Asia ex-Japan.

He will replace Mike Nikou, the current managing director for Southeast Asia and head of intermediary business for Asia ex-Japan, who is apparently leaving Fidelity. In a statement, the firm said he “is moving on to a new role”.

Nikou has been with Fidelity International for 20 years and he will remain in Singapore until the end of the year.

Waterhouse is currently head of wholesale sales in the UK. He joined Fidelity in August 2010, having spent 10 years at Legal & General Investment Management leading distribution in the intermediary market, the firm said in a statement.

“Ben has a great track record of growing our business in the UK and we are thrilled to have him join our team in Asia,” said Daisy Ho, in the statement.

Waterhouse added: “The Southeast Asian and Middle East markets are critical to our growth strategy. I am delighted to join the fantastic teams we have in Singapore and Dubai and look forward to working with them to serve our clients.”
