He replaced Angelo Venardos, who has been named the firm’s chairman for Singapore.
Sayers will be based in Singapore. He is responsible for the overall performance of the firm and ensuring all activity is in line with the group’s strategy, according to the statement.
Equiom provides high-net-worth investors and corporations with fiduciary services. Private client services include family office services, real estate, trusts and foundations, according to the firm’s website. Asia offices are in Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.
Before Equiom, Richard Sayers was a senior executive at Enhance Group, which he co-founded in 2005. In 2015, he relocated to Singapore from the firm’s base in Jersey to head the office and help drive the firm’s development in Asia.
Enhance Group provides investment consultancy, investment reporting, wealth consultancy and treasury services to trust companies, charities and private clients.
FSA sought more information from Enhance’s Singapore office, but it could not confirm whether the firm has found a replacement for Sayers.
James Painter, Enhance’s CEO, did not respond to request for comment in time for publication.
