Eastspring appoints CEO for its Malaysia business

Siok Hoon Yap has spent the past 11 years with Eastspring, spearheading its distribution efforts in Malaysia.

Eastspring Investments has appointed Siok Hoon Yap as chief executive officer for its Malaysia unit, effective 15 May.

She will report to Faizal Gaffoor, deputy regional CEO at Eastspring Investments.

Yap has 26 years of experience including the last 11 years with Eastspring, where she led distribution in Malaysia.

Prior to joining Eastspring, she worked for 16 years at Hong Leong Asset Management, rising to the position of general manager for the client solutions group.

“Since joining Eastspring in 2013, Siok Hoon has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a great understanding of our business. She has strengthened our local institutional business and grew our distribution channels to expand customer reach,” said Bill Maldonado, chief executive officer for Eastspring Investments.

“Her focus on customer centricity, determination in delivering excellence as well as her close engagement with local industry bodies position her well to lead our Malaysian business.”
