BNP Paribas IP appoints Moorrees as HK CEO

BNP Paribas Investment Partners has appointed Tino Moorrees as chief executive of Hong Kong from today.

Moorrees succeeds Jean Audibert, who retired in September last year.

In the interim from September to today, Vincent Camerlynck, the CEO of Asia Pacific, had been taking responsibility for Hong Kong operations.

Moorrees (pictured) was earlier the CEO, representative director and president of BNP Paribas Investment Partners in Japan and prior to that, the CEO and president director at BNP Paribas Investment Partners Indonesia.

The Japan position was filled by Ryohei Shimazaki on 25 June, the company said.

Shimazaki was most recently president and representative director of Baring Asset Management (Japan) and has also held various positions with firms in Asia and Europe, including Baring Brothers and ING Baring Securities.

Both Moorrees and Shimazaki report to Camerlynck, who is based in Hong Kong.

In September last year, BNP made two key senior appointments, aiming to strengthen its business in Asia Pacific and emerging markets: Camerlynck was named as Asia Pacific CEO, and Ligia Torres was appointed head of Asia-Pacific and emerging markets.

BNP Paribas IP has assets under management worth $58bn (£34.95bn) within Asia Pacific.
