Axa Investment Managers (Axa IM) has named Gordon Happell as a portfolio manager on the firm’s global equity team.

Happell joins after a decade at Columbia Threadneedle, where he co-managed the US portfolio of the Global Smaller Companies Trust.

At Axa IM, he will co-manage both the Axa Framlington American Growth fund and the Axa WF US Growth fund alongside senior portfolio manager David Shaw.

Dominic Byrne, head of global equity for Axa IM Core, said: “Global equity investing continues to play an important strategic role in our portfolios and requires strong stock selection ability for our clients.

“Therefore, we are very pleased to welcome a portfolio manager with as much experience, knowledge and enthusiasm in this area as Gordon.”

In August 2024, BNP Paribas agreed a deal to buy Axa IM for €5.4bn ($6.14bn). The deal is expected to complete in July.
