UBP strengthens Hong Kong sales bench

Union Bancaire Privée Hong Kong has added three wealth managers to grow its North Asia coverage.

The Swiss private bank has hired Ivan Tam as team head and Calvin Poon as relationship manager. Based in Hong Kong, Poon will report to Tam, while Tam will report to Teresa Lee, chief executive Hong Kong and region head North Asia.

Tan (main picture) has more than 20 years of wealth management experience in the Greater China region. Most recently, he was senior director, relationship management at HSBC Private Banking, where he focused on portfolio management for high net worth (HNW) clients. He has also held leadership roles at Deutsche Bank AG Private Banking and Standard Chartered Private Banking.

Poon (pictured left) also has over two decades of experience in global financial institutions. Before joining UBP, he was director, relationship manager, at Deutsche Bank AG Wealth Management, where he focused on client acquisition and portfolio management. Prior to that, he was director, relationship manager at Standard Chartered Bank.

Meanwhile, Leslie Ching (pictured below) has been appointed lead investment consultant, ultra high net worth (UHNW). Based in Hong Kong, he will report directly to Lee.

Ching’s experience spans client advisory and investment services, primarily focusing on UHNW clients across the Greater China region.

Before joining UBP, Ching was executive director, investment counsellor, at Bank of Singapore, where he managed portfolios for UHNW and HNW clients. Before that, he worked as investment counsellor at HSBC and EFG Bank.
