Federated Hermes strengthens bench in Japan

Kozo Fujioka's appointment comes after Federated Hermes expanded into Japan to tap pension funds and other financial institutions there.

Federated Hermes has appointed Kozo Fujioka (pictured) to its Asia Pacific sales team in Japan.

In the newly created role of sales manager, Fujioka will report directly to Wataru Horii, head of business development in Japan. He will be responsible for alignment and distribution of Federated Hermes’ products to meet the needs of financial institution clients in Japan.

Federated Hermes expanded to Japan in 2021 to provide greater proximity to Japanese clients such as pension funds and financial institutions.

Fujioka was most recently head of financial institution clients at T Rowe Price in Japan. He has also worked at Pimco, JP Morgan Asset Management and Sumtimo Mitsui Asset Management.

“Since launching our Japanese business in 2021, we have taken a strategic approach to identifying the products and strategies that are best suited to local institutional investors,” said Horii.

“Japan continues to be an important market with growing demand for our investment strategies, and I look forward to working closely with Kozo as we further strengthen our experienced team, supporting our thriving local client base.”
