HSBC GAM appoints India CEO

Ravi Menon will become chief executive officer of HSBC Global Asset Management's India office.

His appointment is effective February 1 and he will report to Pedro Bastos, the firm’s Asia-Pacific CEO.

Menon replaces Puneet Chaddha who was recently appointed CEO of Singapore and head of Southeast Asia.

Menon will lead the asset management business and ensure adherence to the HSBC Group’s requirements and regulatory standards in India, the firm said.

Menon’s current role is head of strategy and planning for HSBC India. He joined the firm’s capital markets business in 1998.

Bastos welcomed Menon in a statement and said that India is an “integral part of our business in Asia”.

HSBC GAM’s Sanjiv Duggal, head of Asian and India equities, recently told FSA he is overweight India’s government-linked and financial sectors.
