T Rowe Price, UBS GWM, JP Morgan make senior Asia appointments

T Rowe Price hires regional head of intermediary; UBS Global Wealth Management (GWM) strengthens alternatives team; JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) adds senior credit specialist.

T Rowe Price creates head of intermediary role

The firm has created the new role of head of intermediary, Asia ex-Japan, to be filled by Glen Lee, based in Singapore.

Lee started earlier this week and reports to Elsie Chan, head of distribution for Asia ex-Japan.

“The appointment underscores T Rowe Price’s commitment to serve the growing demand for differentiated, actively managed investment products from financial intermediaries across the Asia region,” according to a statement from the firm.

Lee will lead the intermediary teams in both Hong Kong and Singapore, to deepen relationships with regional banks and financial advisers.

Before joining T Rowe Price, Lee was responsible for Asia intermediary sales at Eastspring Investments.

UBS GWM nets hedge funds specialist

The Swiss private bank has appointed Theresa Wong as hedge fund specialist for Greater China, according to an internal note.

Wong will report to Gunther Jost, head of hedge funds and investment specialists, who is a veteran in the alternatives industry with 18 years of experience.

“Given heightened volatility and uncertainty in markets, our clients are increasingly looking for uncorrelated returns through investing in hedge funds. Alternatives, including private markets and hedge funds, play a key role in taking a longer-term, endowment-style investing approach for portfolio diversification,” said Jost.

Prior to joining UBS GWM, Wong spent nine years at Goldman Sachs with a focus on hedge funds, recently working within the alternative investments and manager selection group at the firm.
