Singaporean to head UBS wealth management unit

UBS has promoted Edmund Koh to head of wealth management for Asia Pacific, making him the first Singaporean to assume the role.

Koh takes over from Kathryn Shih, who has been named president of UBS, Asia Pacific.

The appointments are effective 1 January, 2016, UBS confirmed.

Koh is at present the head of UBS wealth management Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific hub, which covers China, Taiwan and Japan.

Koh joined the bank in 2012 and has two decades of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to UBS, Koh was Taiwan’s Ta Chong Bank’s president and director. Before that, he was DBS Bank’s regional head of consumer banking.

Juerg Zeltner, president of UBS wealth management, noted: “Koh is a seasoned banker who brings deep knowledge of banking and financial services in Asia Pacific. His extensive experience in the financial industry and in the successful development of new markets positions him well to lead UBS wealth management.”
