OMGI expands Asian Equities team

Old Mutual Global Investors has expanded its Asian equities team, hiring Diamond Lee of Ignis Asset Management as portfolio manager.

Lee will be responsible for supporting the firm’s Asian Equities team in selecting Chinese stocks.

Initially, Lee will be based at Old Mutual Global’s London office. He is expected to join the Hong Kong office following regulatory approvals.

He will report to Joshua Crabb, who was appointed as head of Asian equities in September.

“Diamond [Lee]’s appointment clearly demonstrates Old Mutual Global Investors’ on-going commitment to the region,” Crabb said.

Lee spent about 18 years with Ignis Asset Management as an Asian equities portfolio manager. At Ignis, he was responsible for China stock selection across Asia Pacific as well as emerging markets portfolios and he managed the Ignis Pacific Growth Fund and Ignis China Fund.

OMGI beefed up its team in September, announcing appointments of two analysts, Kris Whitlock and Dmitry Lapidus, who work alongside Crabb.

Crabb and his team are tasked with leading the development of products and strategies that will drive OMGI’s Asia Pacific growth strategy.

The team currently manages the Dublin-domiciled Old Mutual Pacific Equity fund and the Old Mutual Asian Equity fund.
