Nikko gets EMEA chief from Pictet

Udo von Werne has been hired as CEO of Europe, the Middle East and Africa by Nikko Asset Management.

Von Werne will be responsible for the firm’s EMEA business and growth strategy. He reports directly to president and CEO, Takumi Shibata.

Von Werne has 25 years of experience in the financial idustry, the firm said. Most recently, he served as  head  of institutional  clients  for  continental  Europe  at Pictet Asset  Management, where he was employed since 2000. Prior to that, he was with Zurich Financial Services and UBS.

“In our effort to strengthen our global footprint, Udo will be instrumental in helping us to further expand, and his appointment demonstrates the importance we attach to growing our EMEA business,” Shibata said.

In another appointment earlier this month, Nikko hired Raphael Marechal from BlackRock to serve as senior portfolio manager for global emerging markets, based in London.
