Mercer makes senior appointments in Asia Pacific

Mercer, the global HR and financial services consulting firm, said it has appointed Francis Goh as country leader for Singapore, joining the company from Microsoft Consulting Services, where he held dual roles as GM, head of sales, and ASEAN market leader.

Goh will be responsible for driving growth for the local operations, including sales strategy and employee engagement and will report to Lisa Sun, Mercer’s managing director and partner for the Asia market.

The firm also said it had appointed Billy Wong as managing director and Hong Kong business leader, saying both appointments signaled a growing demand for talent consulting services and coincided with the company’s expansion of its talent consulting business across the region. Wong will also report to Sun.

Commenting on the appointments, Sun said: “Mercer is the industry leader in Asia Pacific and we continue to invest in growth markets, including Singapore and Hong Kong. The appointments of Mr. Goh and Mr. Wong reinforce our commitment to clients in this region. The two industry veterans will take our business to the next level and our clients will benefit from their extensive consultancy experience.”

Mercer also named Jon Robinson as ASEAN executive rewards leader and Kwong Hui Hen as senior associate of executive rewards. Both will be based in Singapore. Robert Li, based in Hong Kong, was named talent consulting business leader. Robinson, Kwong and Li will report to Shai Ganu, Mercer’s market business leader for talent consulting in Asia.

Commenting on the expansion of the company’s talent consulting business, Ganu said:  “Recruiting the right talent and retaining them has always been a key issue for businesses in Asia. The integration of the ASEAN Economic Community by end of this year will bring opportunities and challenges for both employers and employees.”
