Amundi makes senior ETF appointments

The appointments emphasise the European asset manager’s focus on the growth in Asian markets.

Sunny Leung has been made head of ETF indexing and smart beta sales, Asia ex Japan and Jeffrey Jeon has been hired as head of ETF indexing and smart beta sales, North Asia, reporting to Leung.

Both appointments took effect in September 2023

Leung was previously head of ETF, indexing, and smart beta sales in North Asia from 2017 to 2019. He then led the South Asia ETF indexing and smart beta sales team from 2019 to 2023. He and his team focus on ETF business development across both institutional and wealth segments in Asia ex Japan.

Before joining Amundi, Leung was at State Street Global Advisors Singapore, overseeing business development and client services for SPDR ETFs. He also held various ETF sales and marketing positions in Asia with Vanguard Investment Hong Kong, Credit Suisse Asset Management, and Lyxor Asset Management since 2007.

Jeon (pictured) joined Amundi in September 2023 as head of ETF, indexing & smart beta sales, North Asia.  He is responsible for the development of Amundi’s fund ETF business in the region (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea).

Previously, Jeon worked at BlackRock for 11 years in its Hong Kong and Seoul offices. In 2019, he joined the iShares Asia ex-Japan distribution team based in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the development and execution of the iShares business strategy in Korea across institutional, wealth and asset management segments.

Before joining the iShares team, Jeon was a member of BlackRock’s institutional client business group in Apac where he was responsible for developing and maintaining institutional relationships with clients in Korea, including official institutions, public and private pension plans, and insurers.
