Manulife AM recruits from UBS for senior role

Manulife Asset Management has hired Emmanuel Bucaille for the new position of senior managing director and head of wealth solutions for Asia wealth and asset management.

In the newly-created Hong Kong-based role, Bucaille will spearhead the effort to more closely align Manulife AM’s wealth solutions to customers’ financial objectives, according to a statement from the firm.

Bucaille will report to Michael Dommermuth, executive vice president and head of wealth and asset management for Asia, according to the statement.

His will oversee manager selection, performance monitoring and asset manager reviews, tasks which will continue to be conducted by the firm’s investment consulting services (ICS) function. Michelle Ng heads the ICS and will be reporting to Bucaille.

He will also have direct ownership over wealth solutions, from product idea generation to development and implementation, the statement said.

The development of wealth solutions is the remit of the product development team, headed by Margaret Madden, who will report to Bucaille.

Bucaille has around 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has spent the majority of his career with UBS in Europe and Asia. Before Manulife AM, he was UBS Wealth Management Europe’s head of investment products and services operating office, according to the statement.

In Asia, the AUM of Manulife’s wealth and asset management business was around $117bn as of the end of June.
