FSA sought more information from HSBC, but the firm was not able to reply with details on Cotter’s role in time for publication.
Besides personal banking services, HSBC RBWM provides wealth solutions and financial planning to its customers by offering investment and wealth insurance products from HSBC and selected third parties, according to the firm’s website.
Cotter was previously a vice president for strategy and business development for Manulife Japan from April 2015 to July this year. Before that, she was Manulife’s Hong Kong-based head of Asia wealth management, a role she held for almost two years.
Cotter left her wealth management role and assumed her Tokyo-based role when Manulife combined its asset and wealth management businesses in Asia in 2015. At the time, the firm appointed Michael Dommermuth as head of wealth and asset management for Asia. Before that, he was president for international asset management at Manulife Asset Management.
Cotter first joined Manulife in 2004 in Canada and then relocated to Hong Kong in 2010.
