Alan Beattie, HSBC Private Banking
The appointment is effective 22 January, subject to regulatory approval.
Beattie will replace Chris Marquis, who is leaving to pursue opportunities outside of the bank, according to a Hong Kong-based spokeswoman for the bank.
Beattie will be responsible for managing the PWS globally and will report to Peter Boyles, HSBC Private Banking’s CEO.
PWS is a trust and fiduciary services provider, which offers individuals and families with wealth, business and family succession solutions.
“Over the next few decades, we will see one of the largest intergenerational wealth transfers in history, and private wealth solutions is a strategic business that helps our private banking clients through this transition period,” Boyles said in the statement.
Beattie is not a stranger to HSBC. He has had 25 years of experience with the bank having held several senior roles previously, such as regional head of commercial banking for HSBC Latin America and deputy chief CEO for HSBC Europe.
Before returning with the bank, he worked in the venture capital industry in Australia, serving as Capital Pitch’s chief funding advisor.
