The Ninety One fund is led by Graeme Baker and Deirdre Cooper, who have a combined 41 years industry experience. Baker is a portfolio manager in the sustainable equity team within the multi-asset team, while Cooper is head of sustainable equity.
Baker joined Ninety One in 2010 and prior to that worked as an investment analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown Asset Management. Cooper joined Ninety One in 2018 from Ecofin, where she was a partner, portfolio manager and head of research at Ecofin. She started her career as an investment banker, heading up Morgan Stanley’s European renewable energy coverage effort.
Meanwhile, the Pictet fund is led by Luciano Diana, Gabriel Micheli and Yi Du. Diana and Micheli are both senior investment managers in the thematic equities division, while Yi is an investment manager.
Diana joined Pictet in 2009 and before that spent four years at Morgan Stanley, where he headed the London-based clean energy sell-side research team. He began his career as an IT strategy consultant at Accenture.
Micheli joined Pictet in 2006, while Yi joined Pictet in 2018. Before joining Pictet, Yi worked in the global equity research team at JP Morgan and the investment banking team at Barclays.
“In short, both have exceptional teams. In addition to three managers of this fund, Pictet is one of the market leaders in environmental and wider thematic investing,” said McDermott.
“The Ninety One team is also extremely experienced, with the team of five managers across four strategies.”
