Fees matter, not just on a relative basis, but because they affect fund performance, according to Morningstar. In fact, as long ago as 2016, the fund research firm published a paper that found that “the expense ratio is the most proven predictor of future returns” for any fund.
The ongoing charges fee (OCF) for the retail share class of the Neuberger Berman fund is 1.54%, and the OCF for the Pictet product is lower at 1.38%, according to FE Fundinfo.
“Both funds are roughly average within their category in terms of the fees they charge,” said Kirwin.
