The JP Morgan fund is led by Tokyo-based Nicholas Weindling. He has 17 years of investment experience and has managed the strategy since 2007, according to Lo.
He is supported by 13 portfolio managers focusing on the Japan market, which include Shoichi Mizusawa, head of Japanese equities, and Miyako Urabe, who are also co-managers of the fund. Mizusawa and Urabe have 27 and 11 years of investment experience, respectively.
Turning to the Schroders product, Lo said that the fund is managed by Kazuhiro Toyoda, who was named portfolio manager in 2017. Toyoda, who has 18 years of investment experience, has been involved in the strategy since 2016 as co-manager.
Toyoda joined the firm 12 years ago and is supported by 11 Japan-focused analysts.
Lo has no concerns over both teams, as the managers are experienced.
“The teams have also been pretty stable and we have no concerns about any turnover,” he added.
