The First State fund has been managed since launch by Peter Meany, a pioneer in infrastructure investment, who was previously an analyst at Macquarie and Credit Suisse, according to McDermott.
Andrew Greenup was appointed co-manager in June 2011, although he is acknowledged as a co-founder of the strategy. Before joining First State in 2005, he worked at Allianz Global Investors and Credit Suisse First Boston as an analyst.
“Meany and Greenup are supported by a team consisting of nine infrastructure specialists – all of whom are based in Sydney – with an average of 15 years’ experience,” said McDermott.
The Morgan Stanley fund is managed by a veteran of the bank, Ted Bigman, who joined Morgan Stanley in 1995. He is a managing director at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, and is also head of global real estate securities investing, as well the lead portfolio manager for the global infrastructure securities strategy, according to McDermott
Prior to joining the firm, he was a director at Credit Suisse First Boston, where he worked for eight years in the real estate investment banking group.
The co-manager of the fund, Matthew King, joined Morgan Stanley in 2008 and is a vice president at Morgan Stanley Investment Management.
