Both the Fidelity and Matthews Asia funds receive a four-star Morningstar rating and an analyst rating of Silver.
Morningstar’s star rating looks at historical performance and the analyst rating is forward-looking.
Daniels does not prefer one fund over the other.
“Both are very strong offerings. We like both their teams and the processes in place,” he said.
However, he said that both products may appeal to different kinds of investors.
“It depends on the risk tolerance of an investor. If you’re an investor who is risk-averse and wants some downside protection, I would say consider the Matthews Asia strategy.
“Investors with higher risk tolerance may consider the Fidelity fund, as it could generate higher returns over the long-term, although that comes with higher risks,” he said.
