HEAD-TO-HEAD: Eastspring versus Schroders
FSA compares two dividend funds: the Eastspring Investments Asian Equity Income Fund and the Schroder International Asian Equity Yield Selection Fund.
Conclusion
Morningstar awards the Schroders fund three star and gives it an analyst rating of silver, whereas the Eastspring fund gets one star and an analyst rating of neutral.
Overall, Lo is forthright about which fund he prefers.
“Definitely the Schroders one. In fact, it’s one of our top picks in the arena of regional income. If you look on a standalone basis, it boasts very strong people, very strong processes and if you pit it against others, not just the Eastspring fund, which we think is a bit lacklustre, but other funds we cover regionally, it also stands out from the rest,” he said.
