The Blackrock fund is managed by Neeraj Seth, who is also the firm’s head of Asian credit. Seth has managed the fund since 2012 and has 19 years of experience in investing in Asian credit, according to Yew. He joined Blackrock in 2009 and headed the expansion of the firm’s fixed income investment capabilities, which currently oversees $13bn in assets.
Seth is supported by a 10-member Asian fixed income research team, which is one of the biggest Asian fixed income teams in the region, with an average of 11 years of investment experience.
For the HSBC fund, although the named portfolio manager is Cecilia Chan, who is also the chief investment officer for Asia-Pacific fixed income, the daily management responsibilities, including asset allocation, belong to Gregory Suen, Yew said.
Suen has been managing the fund since 2011 and has 16 years of investment experience. He is supported by a seven-member Hong Kong-based Asian credit research team with an average of 12 years of investment experience.
Both teams have had some turnover in 2016, according to Yew, but have been stable since.
“Overall, both the supporting teams have been stable, and both managers are very experienced,” he said.
