HEAD-TO-HEAD: Blackrock versus Fidelity

FSA compares the Blackrock Euro Corporate Bond Fund and the Fidelity Euro Corporate Bond Fund.

Manager review

The Blackrock fund is managed by Tom Mondelaers, who has been with the product since 2009, and Jozef Prokes, who joined Blackrock in 2010 and became co-manager of the fund in 2015, according to Dobrescu.

They are supported by a team of 13 portfolio managers that only focus on credit. A team of analysts covering global sovereign and corporate debt also provide support.

The Fidelity fund’s manager is David Simner, who has been managing the fund since 2009. He is supported by, Ario Emami Nejad, who started to assist Simner with the fund last year.

Both are supported by a team of 27 credit research analysts, according to Dobrescu.

Dobrescu said he has no concerns with either team. The managers Mondelaers and Simner have both been with their respective funds since 2009. Both firms also have the largest credit research teams in the industry, she added.
