Invesco gets contrarian; Popes and the S&P 500 performance; Jim Cramer’s certainty; Negative yields; AI is everywhere; Natixis considers the next decade; Google’s search woes and much more.
FE Analytics has given both the Barings and Fidelity products a two-star crown rating.
The crown-rating methodology assesses the fund’s alpha, volatility and consistency of performance.
Ng believes that both products are among the best Asean products available in the market, but he is “more comfortable” recommending the Fidelity fund to FE’s clients.
“We were recommending the product previously when it was still managed by Kwek, but we are still recommending the product now as we believe in the new managers’ capabilities.
“It is actually hard to beat the Asean benchmark and Kuang is doing quite well so far,” he said.
Ng prefers the Fidelity fund’s more diversified portfolio versus the Barings fund, he added.
“We believe that the more diversified portfolio has made the product less volatile. Overall, it tends to provide better risk-adjusted returns.”
That said, Ng believes that investors who prefer a more concentrated portfolio and would like more exposure to Vietnam should consider the Barings fund.
“The Barings fund is consistent with its process and it sticks to most of its positions long-term,” he added.
