The Barings fund has ongoing charges (OCF) of 1.71%, which is lower than Fidelity’s OCF of 1.95%.
Although the Fidelity fund is more expensive, Ng believes that it is in-line with the market. The median OCF of Asean funds in Hong Kong is 1.90%, according to FE data.
Ng explained that Asean funds are usually more expensive than Asia-Pacific ex-Japan funds because the majority of countries in Asean are considered emerging markets and are under-researched. For Asia-Pacific ex-Japan products in Hong Kong, the median OCF is 1.86%.
