The Fidelity fund carries a Morningstar analyst rating of Neutral and a four-star rating, while the JP Morgan fund has a Bronze analyst rating with a five-star rating.
The analyst rating is a based on forward-looking analysis of a fund, while the star rating looks at historical risk-adjusted performance.
The FE rating, which measures alpha, volatility and consistency of returns over three years, is two crowns for the Fidelity fund and three crowns for the JP Morgan fund.
Investors who are willing to take on more risk with a potential for higher returns should go for the JP Morgan fund, given the very active approach shown by Ng, said Laidlaw.
“She has done a really good job just in terms of taking those active bets and has made the fund actually shine for investors,” he said.
Investors looking for a broader Asean exposure that does not deviate away much from the index should go for the Fidelity fund. Laidlaw added that Kwek has delivered a reasonable job managing the fund.
