JP Morgan Asset Management gets enhanced; Thailand wants some leverage; Natxis is surveying the world; A billionaire here, another there; Business social media lunacy; Andrew Carnegie’s wisdom and more.
Kwek has been the portfolio manager of the Fidelity Asean fund since 2008, according to Laidlaw. She has a total of ten years of portfolio management experience, previously managing Thailand and Indonesia single-country funds.
Kwek is supported by six Asean specialists. Besides the Asean fund, she also manages the firm’s single-country strategies for the major Asean markets: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
JP Morgan’s Ng has managed the Asean fund since its inception in 2009. She also leads an investment team of six people, according to Laidlaw.
Both teams are among the biggest Asean-focused investment teams in the region, according to Laidlaw.
Besides Ng, JP Morgan names Chang Qi Ong as the fund’s portfolio manager since 2013. Sarinee Sernsukskul, who was appointed co-manager in 2012, left the firm in February this year.
Laidlaw is comfortable with both teams, given that both managers have a long track-record in managing Asean equities. He added that both managers are supported by a well-resourced team.
Laidlaw has no major concerns over Sernsukskul’s departure, given Ng’s track-record. The departure had no effect on the JP Morgan fund’s overall investment process.
