Franklin Templeton has created a new unit called the Global Official Institutions Group to serve central banks and sovereign wealth funds globally.
The asset manager named Tariq Ahmad (main picture), head of APAC and Sandeep Singh, head of CEEMEA & India as co-heads of the newly created unit.
In their expanded roles, the co-heads will focus on building and strengthening relationships with official institutions around the world, the firm said in a press release.
They will also develop tailored investment solutions aligned with the specific mandates and objectives of each institution in the segment, and deliver bespoke thought leadership, knowledge transfer, and customized training programmes.
The newly created group will go after a segment that Franklin Templeton said is a $30trn opportunity for the firm.
The firm also said it believes in the growing significance of official institutions as long-term investors who are set to diversify their reserve currencies and asset classes.
