His appointment is effective today and he will be based in Hong Kong.
Walls was brought over from Blackrock, where he served as head of product strategy and innovation for Asia-Pacific and Australia, based in Sydney. Prior to that, he was at Barclays Global Investors, where he was head of product development.
He will work with Mike Nikou, managing director, who is responsible for the wholesale business in Asia-Pacific, and with Judy Marlinski, the firm’s Japan president.
He will report to Paolo Federici, global head of products at Fidelity. All product teams in Asia-Pacific and Japan will report to Walls.
“Markets remain volatile and we’re entering a low growth environment, so finding new ways to truly add value to our clients’ overall portfolios is incredibly important,” Nikou said.
“[Walls’] understanding of the markets, his insights about new investment trends and themes, and his appreciation of client needs will add significant value to our current product suite across the region.”
