Cheng was formerly general manager of Taiwan and head of Greater China for Aviva Investments.

Prior to that, she was deputy president and vice president of marketing and sales at Union Securities Investment Trust. She also served in various senior roles at Kirin Securities and Investment Consulting, Old Mutual Asset Solutions (UK) and NedBank’s Taipei Representative Office, a subsidiary of Old Mutual Group.

“[Cheng] joins us at a timely juncture as we have just rebranded as Columbia Threadneedle Investments and are ready to embrace an exciting new phase of development,” said Raymundo Yu, Asia Pacific chairman. “She is an invaluable addition to our wholesale distribution division, one of the firm’s growth areas.”

In March, Threadneedle and its US-based affiliate Columbia Management rebranded as Columbia Threadneedle Investments.

The firm said it now has total AUM of $506bn across developed and emerging market equities, fixed income, multi-asset solutions and alternatives.
