Citi names Indonesia markets head

Benny Aroeman has been hired from ANZ Indonesia.

Citi said today that Benny Aroeman has joined Citi as head of markets for Indonesia. He reports to Sue Lee, head of markets for Asia South and Batara Sianturi, Citi country officer and banking head for Indonesia.

Aroeman (pictured) has over three decades of experience in delivering derivatives, structured products and risk management solutions to Indonesian clients, according to a statement by the US bank.

He was most recently at ANZ Indonesia where he was head of markets for Indonesia since 2019. Prior to this, he led the sales team for treasury and markets at DBS Indonesia for 12 years. He also worked at HSBC Indonesia and Deutsche Indonesia. He started his career in Garuda Indonesia in Belgium.

Sianturi commented: “This appointment underscores Citi’s commitment to Indonesia, which is a key market. We see client activity increasing across our interconnected businesses as foreign and domestic investments into Indonesia continue to strengthen.”

Lee added: “Indonesia is a key market for the markets business in the rapidly growing Asia South region. We have a strong commitment to deliver market leading solutions to our Indonesian clients, and Benny’s appointment underscores this commitment.”

Aroeman’s appointment follows a series of hires for the markets’ business in Asia. These include Nattaphan Assavavisessivakul as head of markets for Thailand from BNP Paribas in August 2024 and Ng Hooi Wan as head of markets for Malaysia from JP Morgan in December 2024.
