Capital Group has announced that Scott Steele has been appointed as head of fixed income business development for Asia and Europe.
In this newly-created role, Steele will report to Alexandra Haggard, head of product and investment services for Asia and Europe.
“[Steele] brings deep fixed income investment management and distribution experience to our team. He will be vital in helping our clients build more resilient and diversified portfolios as we expand our fixed income capabilities and bring our active strategies to more investors across Asia and Europe,” said Haggard.
Before joining Capital Group, he was most recently the global head of fixed income client portfolio management at Janus Henderson Investors.
Steele has also held various roles at Pimco, including the head of wealth management for Hong Kong and Singapore and head of institutional for Asia ex Japan. He was also the CIO at BMO mutual funds.
He has over 30 years of industry experience with a focus on fixed income and distribution expertise in both Asia and Europe.
Capital Group has assets under management of approximately $2.2trn as of end of June.
Over the last five years, the group has doubled its fixed income assets under management to just over $450bn and launched several new fixed income offerings in Asia and Europe, including Capital Group Global Total Return Bond Fund to Singapore investors and Capital Group Global Corporate Bond Fund to both Hong Kong and Singapore investors.
