Capital Group nets new director from Franklin Templeton

Huang hire will help grow the company’s distribution team in Asia.

Capital Group has appointed Vanessa Huang as director for financial intermediaries in Singapore and southeast Asia.

Huang will report to Suyin Tan, managing director for financial intermediaries in Singapore and southeast Asia, who joined from Goldman Sachs Asset Management in June.

“We are delighted to welcome [Huang] as we strengthen our commitment to deliver long-term solutions and best-in-class service to clients in the region,” said Jeik Sohn, head of the client group for Singapore and southeast Asia.

Huang will help expand Capital Group’s intermediary business across southeast Asia and support the firm’s regional distribution strategy, the company said.

She boasts a decade’s experience working with private and retail banking clients and was most recently the vice president of southeast Asia distribution sales at Franklin Templeton.

Huang has also worked at BlackRock, Martin Currie and Citibank in Singapore.

California-based Capital Group has made several key senior hires since the beginning of the year, including Kat Ferris as the head of product development for Asia and Europe and David Cheng as fixed income director.

The company has an AUM of $2.2trn, according to the firm.
