Aviva Investors names Taiwan head

The firm has appointed Lian Yang to head its Taiwan operations, replacing Vina Cheng.

Yang joined the firm on 7 August as general manager for Taiwan business.

Yang has experience in both the institutional and retail sides of the fund business. Her career spans 15 years. She previously worked as head of institutional sales at Deutsche Far Eastern Asset Management and as general manager for Robeco Asset Management.

Aviva believes Yang’s experience with institutional and retail clients will help it grow its business in Taiwan.

“Taiwan presents a significant opportunity for Aviva Investors with the total offshore fund market currently valued at over $100bn, and we are excited to further develop our business here in Taiwan and in the region,” said Kevin Talbot, chief for Asia-Pacific operations.

This developement follows its latest move to change its master agent in Taiwan to CTBC Investments.

In September last year, Talbot told Fund Selector Asia about the firm’s plans to build its Asia capabilities.
