Fidelity taps PineBridge for Asia equity PM

Cynthia Chen will take responsibility for several Hong Kong equity funds.

Fidelity International has announced the appointment of Cynthia Chen as portfolio manager within its Asian equities team.

Chen (pictured) joins Fidelity in August 2024 and will be based in Hong Kong. She will have responsibility as lead portfolio manager for the Fidelity Retirement Master Trust – Hong Kong Equity Fund, Fidelity Global Investment fund – Hong Kong Equity fund and Fidelity Advantage Portfolio – Hong Kong Equity fund, with effect from 1 September 2024.

She has more than 20 years of asset management experience in the region, including eight years as a portfolio manager.

Joining from PineBridge Investments, Chen was most recently portfolio manager for the firm’s Greater China, Hong Kong and A-share equity funds. She joined PineBridge Investments in 2007 as an investment analyst, responsible for Hong Kong and China equities, after having worked for four years at IMC Group.

Chen will take on her portfolio manager responsibilities from Ronald Chung, who will move to the equity research team as a senior analyst, bringing his extensive analyst experience to drive investment outcomes for Fidelity’s Greater China franchise.

Marty Dropkin, head of equities, Asia Pacific, Fidelity International commented: “As one of Fidelity’s core capabilities, we continue to invest in our Asian and Greater China equity team to ensure a rich mix of talent, experience, style and specialism. [Chen] is a highly experienced portfolio manager with deep industry connections and a strong track record in working with wholesale and institutional clients, particularly in Hong Kong.”
