Vikram Lokur has been appointed head of institutional sales for Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, according to an internal memo seen by FSA.
He joins Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) from the Carlyle Group where he was most recently managing director, client relationship manager.
“His extensive relationships with sophisticated investors in Asia and expertise in working with clients to diversify institutional portfolios incorporating alternative investments will be invaluable as [MSIM] deliver comprehensive investment solutions to clients across asset classes in public and private markets,” said the memo.
Lokur (pictured) is a managing director based in Singapore, and his hire follows the appointment last week of Min Huang as head of Greater China.
Huang was previously the Asia Pacific head of Credit Suisse Asset Management, and both her and Lokur’s appointments represent MSIM’s strategy to establish dedicated sales teams across Greater China and Southeast Asia to cover institutional and intermediary clients.
