Value Partners names China business head

Clare Zhao has been appointed as head of the institutional business for Apac, head of the China business and head of the ETF business.

Value Partners Group has appointed Clare Zhao (pictured) as head of the institutional business for Asia Pacific, head of the China business and head of the ETF business.

She is based in Hong Kong and her appointment is effective 29 April.

Her appointment follows the resignation of the firm’s chief executive officer June Wong on 26 April. Wong will act as an adviser to the board for rest of 2024, according to a regulatory filing by the firm.

Prior to joining Value Partners, Zhao served as head of the China business at Amundi, where she spearheaded the qualified domestic limited partnership and wholly foreign owned enterprise teams in Beijing as part of her role.

Previously she worked at Vanguard, where her roles included head of distribution for mainland China and Hong Kong. She also had an earlier stint at Value Partners as ETF sales manager.

Value Partners recently entered an agreement with Venture Smart Financial Holdings to launch a spot Bitcoin ETF.

“We are delighted to welcome Clare to Value Partners. Clare brings with her a wealth of experience that will be invaluable in driving our growth and enhancing our offering across the Apac region. Her leadership and strategic vision align perfectly with our goals for expansion and innovation. With Clare on board, we are confident that Value Partners will be better equipped to serve the evolving needs of our clients in Apac,” said Louis So, co-chairman and co-chief investment officer at Value Partners.
